Records of the Branford Electric Railway Association and the Hartford chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, 1940-1963, primarily about the ownership of a trolley lent to Branford from the Hartford chapter, and Melvin's research on Connecticut street railways, including two scrapbooks documenting the demise of the trolley. The bulk of the research papers consists of correspondence seeking photographs that he would copy and return to the owner. These images were donated to CHS and are in the Graphics Department, accession 1975.94.1-3. Among his more personal papers is a 72-page letter from Hawaii by an unknown author describing his life there in 1916.
